We are very happy to welcome Aarhus School of Architecture as a collaboration partner in PARADIGME.

Several of the contributors featured in the upcoming anthology are connected to Aarhus School of Architecture, and we are grateful to now strengthen the collaboration further as the project continues to grow across Scandinavia.

PARADIGME is also developed in collaboration with Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Royal Danish Academy, Chalmers University of Technology, Bergen School of Architecture, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2026.

These collaborations are central to PARADIGME’s ambition to build a stronger Scandinavian platform for emerging voices working across architecture, art, design and society.

Åpent brev til hele bransjen: Hjelp!

Kjære byggebransje, arkitektkontorer, offentlige aktører, eiendomsutviklere, klimaforkjempere, alle kjente og ukjente,

Vi trenger deres hjelp.

For omtrent ett år siden satte vi i gang PARADIGME, et prosjekt for å løfte nye, nordiske stemmer inn i arkitekturfeltet. Prosjektet skal resultere i en antologi som vil bli lansert under Oslo arkitekturtriennale i september, med deres tema «What if Nature Comes First» som bakteppe. 

I desember åpnet vi en Open Call og mottok 120 bidrag fra unge stemmer med tilknytning til Norge, Sverige og Danmark, og prosjektet ble omtalt iblant annet Arkitektur, Byrumsmonitor og Tidningen Arkitekten. Nivået har vært gjennomgående høyt, og vi ser at disse stemmene må få en plattform som når ut til alle som interessert i arkitekturfeltet.

Vi har nå valgt ut 36 bidrag med til sammen nærmere 60 stemmer. Boken er delt inn i fem temaer; kultur, biodiversitet, ressurser, klimatilpasning og makt. 

PARADIGME utvikles i samarbeid med en rekke institusjoner, blant annet Oslo arkitekturtriennale, Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi, Chalmers tekniska högskola, Bergen Arkitekthøgskole, Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet, Arkitektskolen Aarhus og Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo. Vi nevner at vi i tillegg også har fått inn bidrag fra universiteter som TU Delft, KTH, KU, SLU og Universität der Künste Berlin. 

Boken inneholder noen av de beste arbeidene fra disse skolene. Det er dette som skjer i akademia og hos nyutdannede nå, og det er noe dere bør kjenne til.

Vi samarbeider med Press Forlag om utgivelse av boken. Men vi har etter mange søknader og nesten et tilsvarende antall avslag blitt konfrontert med realiteten: Det er ganske dyrt å lage en skikkelig bok.  

Vi har oppriktig trodd at dette var et prosjekt det ville være mulig å få støtte til, ikke minst fordi ingen som er involvert i prosjektet får honorar for arbeidet sitt. 

Unge voksne ser ut til å falle mellom alle stoler, og viljen til å støtte arkitektur- og kulturprosjekter utenfor etablerte og institusjonaliserte rammer er kanskje begrenset i Norge. Derfor spør vi nå om deres hjelp! 

Sammen med Press har vi redusert kostnadene så langt det lar seg gjøre, men vi mangler fortsatt midler.

Vi forstår at ikke alle har mulighet til å ansette unge akkurat nå, men vi tror mange kan bidra ved å gi støtte i form av å bestille et visst antall eksemplarer av boken. Hvis vi lykkes med å sikre støtte av til sammen 600 bøker, vil boken gå i produksjon. 

Vi har allerede fått støtte fra flere av våre samarbeidspartnere, men det er fortsatt et stykke vei å gå før vi er i mål. Lykkes vi ikke med å sette boken i produksjon, vil bestillere selvfølgelig ikke betale noe som helst. Vi gir ut boken til bestilling for kr. 350,- for hvert eksemplar. En støtte tilsvarende 10 bøker utgjør 3 500 kroner (350 kroner per bok). Bøkene kan brukes internt til ansatte eller gis bort som gave. 

Boken vil også komme for salg i bokhandelen, men vil da trolig ha en utsalgspris som en god del høyere. 

Vi spør dere fordi vi mener at dette er viktig; vi vet at boken blir bra. Vi har lest alle bidragene! Og vi har nå gjort alt, men ser ingen annen utvei nå enn å be om hjelp fra bransjen.  

Så vi legger hodet på blokka og spør: Kan dere være med og få dette til?

Collaboration with Scandinavian universities

PARADIGME is being developed in collaboration with a growing network of architectural and cultural institutions across Scandinavia.

The project currently collaborates with Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Royal Danish Academy, Chalmers University of Technology, Bergen School of Architecture, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2026.

The collaborations are an important part of PARADIGME’s ambition to build a stronger platform for emerging voices working across architecture, art, design and society. By connecting students, young practitioners and institutions across the Nordic region, the project aims to create new spaces for critical reflection, publishing and interdisciplinary exchange.

Following the Open Call, PARADIGME received around 120 submissions from across Scandinavia, highlighting both the need for - and the interest in - new editorial platforms for younger generations entering the field.

PARADIGME and the Oslo Architecture Triennale

PARADIGME has been developed in close collaboration with the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2026 since the earliest stages of the project.

In April 2025, Ingrid Haga and Nora Ulrikke Andersen presented the initial idea for PARADIGME to the Triennale team. At that point, the project was still in its conceptual phase, shaped by ongoing conversations about the lack of accessible platforms for emerging voices within architecture and related fields.

The Oslo Architecture Triennale became the project’s first collaborator and has supported the initiative from the very beginning. Their early belief in the project helped transform an idea into something tangible, and gave momentum to a platform that aims to strengthen visibility, public discourse and interdisciplinary exchange for a new generation entering the field.

For us, this support has carried both professional and personal significance. As relatively young practitioners ourselves, we know how important it is when institutions and collaborators choose to take emerging initiatives seriously. Many projects only become possible because someone is willing to open doors, share trust and create space before a project is fully established.

Open Call Closed

The PARADIGME Open Call is now officially closed, and we are blown away by the response.

Over the past months, we have received around 120 submissions from across Scandinavia, spanning essays, research projects, photography, visual art and interdisciplinary work. The range, quality and ambition of the contributions have exceeded anything we imagined when we first launched the project.

The submissions reflect a generation deeply engaged with questions of nature, architecture and society, and demonstrate just how much important thinking, critique and creativity already exists outside the established platforms of the field.

For us, the response has also confirmed why PARADIGME felt necessary in the first place. There is no lack of ideas, perspectives or talent among young practitioners and thinkers.

We are now entering the editorial process and will spend the coming weeks carefully reviewing all submissions. .

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted work, shared the Open Call and supported the project along the way.

PARADIGME in Scandinavian media

Over the past months, PARADIGME has been featured in several Scandinavian media outlets in connection with our Open Call and the upcoming anthology connected to the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2026.

The conversations have centered around the need for more platforms for emerging voices within architecture and urban discourse, particularly in a time marked by ecological crisis, difficult working conditions for young professionals and growing discussions about nature’s role in the built environment. 

We are grateful for the interest from architectural and academic media across Scandinavia, and for the opportunity to discuss why we believe it is important to create more visible and accessible spaces for young practitioners, writers and researchers.

Submit your work

Paradigme, a new Scandinavian anthology, is now accepting submissions. Students, recent graduates, and early-career practitioners in architecture and related fields are encouraged to apply.

Submissions are welcome in any format - essays, debate pieces, poetry, illustration, photography, or art - exploring the relationship between nature and culture. The deadline is 1 March 2026. If you have work sitting in a drawer, a master's thesis, a student project or a text, send it in.

The anthology will be published in book form during Oslo Architecture Triennale, opening 17 September 2026, and is backed by the Nordic Culture Fund and supported by NTNU, AHO, KHiO, BAS, KADK, and Chalmers.

Why we started PARADIGME

We started PARADIGME because we felt there was a missing space within architectural discourse. Again and again, the field calls for “new voices”, while many young practitioners, writers and researchers struggle to find platforms where their work can actually be seen, discussed and taken seriously.

As relatively new graduates ourselves, we have experienced how important visibility, editorial support and access to public conversations can be early in a career. Not because young people lack ideas or competence, but because entering established networks and platforms is often difficult. At the same time, the architecture field across Scandinavia is marked by an increasingly difficult job market, temporary positions and growing uncertainty for young professionals trying to establish themselves in the industry.

We see a generation deeply engaged with some of the most urgent questions facing architecture and society today: climate adaptation, biodiversity loss, urban development, material use, power and inequality. Important work is being produced in studios, schools and independent practices across Scandinavia, but much of it rarely reaches a broader public.

PARADIGME was created as a response to this gap. Through PARADIGME we want to create a platform where emerging voices can contribute to shaping the conversation around architecture, nature and society.
